On September 7, 2006, the latest update to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), version 1.1, was released. PCI DSS applies to every acquiring bank, every merchant that accepts payment cards, and every service provider that stores or transmits card or transaction data on their behalf. By complying with PCI DSS, any business will automatically comply with the requirements and regulations set out by all of the international payment card standards and their acquiring banks, including Visa’s AIS and MasterCard International SDP.
